logitech cordless desktop pro setup
The Logitech cordless desktop pro consists of a Logitech MouseMan Wheel and a Keyboard. I am running a Toshiba Satellite 1800 laptop with only one ps2 port. The Destop pro can optionally use one ps2 (mouse) and one usb (keyboard). That is, i guess, the setup i want.
So far:
I am running Slackware 10.0
As I said, I have a Toshiba Satellite 1800, so i have a built in touchpad and kbd (which work just fine)
I edited my xorg.conf* and put in this:
Identifier "Mouse1"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
Option "Protocol" "imps/2"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "off"
Option "Buttons" "5"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
I found that browsing the web. The user apparently had a Logitech Mouseman and got it to work with this. Well, needless to say it didn't for me (otherwise I wouldn't be here, right?)
Basically the problem is:
at best, all i can get is the pointer to move up and down but not side to side...
i say at best, because i decided to see what would happen IF.......... (always the beginning of a story, huh?)
i took out the usb keyboard and the mouse, plugged in the kb, then plugged in the mouse again. Afterwards it just acted crazy. moving the mouse resulted in random mouse gestures such as crazy pointer "jumps" and clicks.
This is a big problem as I do a lot of typing (coding in JAVA and PHP) and want to just hook up a monitor and my kb/mouse to relieve the repetitive repetitive repetitive repetitive stress that I have been getting.
Thanks,
Noah
*btw what ever happened to XF86Config? i looked on x.org but don't quite understand. are they the same developers but new goal? is it another stab from another consortiam at the same goal? and why the switch in 10.0?
