logitech cordless desktop

I've recently installed a copy of SuSE Linux 8.2 and have had a problem with my LOGITECH CORDLESS DESKTOP. The problem i have is that the keyboard works but the mouse doesn't ? As i'm new to linux I don't know how to navigate round the desktop etc. by using the keyboard. How ever when I plug a normal 2 button wheel mouse in that doesn't work either but when i enter win2k both mice work fine.

can you pint me in the right direction ??
