Logitech Attack 3 Joystick on Ubuntu

Hi, I have been using Ubuntu for some time but I have run into difficulty trying to install this hardware. I am trying to install the Attack 3 joystick. I dont know where to get the packages for it and I dont understand how to use the jstest and other things I have found in other forums... I really am not good at technical stuff especaially with the terminal because I dont understand the code.

What I was hoping for is someone to help me through the process with this joystick

Thanks in advance for any help.

just to update a little bit, Jstest-Gtk recognises the joystick and will even change its values for pitch, roll, etc.. it still doesnt work for any of my programs though. I ran apt-cache policy joystick and it was returning that none was installed, after running jstest it says:

joystick:
Installed: 1:1.4.1-1
Candidate: 1:1.4.1-1
Version table:
*** 1:1.4.1-1 0
500 http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/universe i386 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Still no detection in any programs.. if it helps im attemtping to have it work in Google Earth for the flight sim, it says it cant detect any joysticks
