Logging in as root with mandrake 9.1


Did a quick search here for this didn't see it. But how do i log in a root on mandrake 9.1? I logged out and i got a screen that shows my user name but no place to input another... littel confused.

Doh!!

I don't see where to unhide it. I see the usrdrak but that is to add new users. Any help from here would be appreciated.

in 9.1, you go to kstart>configuration>mandrake control center

from there, find the login options ( this might be in the control center as well) and then choos to have root appear on your login choice. It's best not to have a root choise to login physically if your worried about security, and plus you might get used to running as root, and do some damage that couldn't happen as a user

if you get the option to enter a username it will obviously be root and your password will be whatever you said it was when you first installed linux

Thanks for the post I recently upgraded to the 9.2 internet edition and runs sgreat. Sorry for the long delay in gettign back and posting.

never log in as root use su instead
