Local Disk present as LUNS

Hi I have a HP 380 (G8) and a disk controller is Smart Arry p400i attached with 4 disks 2 in RAID 1+0 and the rest just striped.

My issue is I am trying to configure this as Oracle VM server it only recognised LUNs. But linux shows this devices as /dev/cciss/c0d0

Can it possible to present this as LUNs

Thanks and Regards

Install lsscsi in Linux, then you can see the device as "LUNs". Hard to know what Oracle VM is or what it is looking for. Any reason for "Oracle VM"? I'm ok if it's a requirement, but I do know that Oracle has a way of taking very very different technologies and putting them under a common umbrella name... thus Oracle VM may be a worthless way of describing what you are actually trying to install/do. See also sginfo

If you are wanting something SAN-like, you could make your local drives into iSCSI targets, but normally, that so you can expose the LUN across the network, though in theory you could talk to yourself.

Hi cjcox, thank you for the reply. I like to work with VMware but my management is pushing Oracle VM due to cost of VMware. I went though some forum posts it seems that Oracle VM does not support SATA (cciss)

So was thinking if I could percent this disks as LUNs I could use them, I'll try this lsscsi and how it fares out

Thans and Bet Regards
