Local Apic + i/o apic


From a kernel and system tweaking perspective, whats the use of the APIC? I know I have on in my uniprocessor machine, and im getting spurious intruuppts at 7, but Its not currently in my kernel.

What are htey good for?

not a huge amount unless you have more than 30? devices in you computer
APIC support beyond 100?IRQ for devices to use.

other than that nothing
so unless you plan on using 5 or more Scanners Printers hooked up to your computer
