Loading USB printer failed
I have a USB printer (HP 1300) and use Linux Mandrake 10 with
kernel release 2.6.3.-4mdk. During boot I find: Loading USB printer FATAL: Module usblp already in kernel FATAL: Error running install command for usblp FATAL: Error running install command for printer The problem seems the fact that there is some script that try to install usblp module which is already in kernel. It seems an error related to the interaction of the new kernel and the distro. Can I have some help from the experts? |
Is there a problem with that?
Do you get any symptons or problems with something? (eg. does your printer work?) |
I have the same error with HP ALC900 or Aculaser C900
Code:
Oct 22 13:39:16 localhost rc.sysinit: Setting hostname localhost: succeeded |
Hi rinonapo,
I posted the HP printer problem over one year ago (ages ... in computer field). I haven't any more this problem but I changed distribution (KUbuntu and lastly SUSE 9.3). I am not an expert like ToniT, so I can't ask you as a replay: Quote:

I am sorry I can't help you because I haven't tested Mandriva and the printers are strongly dependent on the loading or not of the relevant drivers. In one case I "added" (configured) the printer from the printer dialog windows. Bye. |
I know that taking away the paper solves the problem.... however my printer is not so near my desk so doing that would be a hassle...
I have discovered anyway that 2.6.13.4 kernel makes the printer work (together with the alcups0.9) and don't need to take the paper anymore :-) ... However I get the Code:
Loading USB printer FATAL: Module usblp already in kernel thank you |
