Hi sw_tech123, Welcome to lq. Are there any errors, what kind of install are you doing, when exactly during the process does it hang?
Good luck. ;-)

Ok, there is no enough info to give you sound advice. Could you provide you /var/log/dmesg file right after it boots. Most likely you have some old hardware and one of the drivers fails properly to support it.

I don't know much about mint but, if you're having trouble getting it loaded with 256Mb it must be resource intensive. If the machine is sharing memory with the video that could be part of the problem. If you can get it loaded in text mode then set up swap you may have better luck.
Good luck. ;-)

I would go with the text install if it's an option. Once that's done you can try to work out the video or at least you'll have access to a functioning system where you can get some output to post here.
Good luck. ;-)

What exactly are you trying to do? Aren't, *.vob files are dvd movie files?
Good luck. ;-)
