Live 5.1 card from Dell ?

"The Dell CT0200 -- The new Live 5.1 card from Dell (CT0200) is not
based on the EMU10K1 chip, so the EMU10K1 driver available at
SourceForge won't work with it." -- some guy on some page

OK so the ALSA drivers won't work on this particular card shipped by DELL ? Why not? Is there a work around here?

The alternative: get the commerical OSS drivers.... I have to pay $30 to a group called 'OPEN'sound just to get audio inside my Linux Box? What is up with that? Makes me want to get back windows.. sheesh..

Please help this noob out! ->->->

Anyone know how I can get my Live 5.1 shipped with my DELL (8300 dimension) to work inside Linux WITHOUT ordering a OSS license?

Exclamation Dude! You gotta Dell!

I point my finger at Dell and say "Shame on you again!"
I make another black mark in my in-bed-with-microsoft company, Dell.
1. Their power supplies/mobo connector aren't wired standard.
2. cpu/fan position won't work in standard cases
And from you:
3. They supply a non-standard sblive.
That sounds exactly like Microsoft business practice to me. Dell will decide what will work on thier boxes, not you. You don't even get a standard Windows install.

If they have standard pci slots, there are cheap real sblive cards available.
