Linux USB Driver For DLink DCM-202 Cable Modem
I want to connect to both LAN and Internet at the same time from my laptop.
Modem: external DLink DCM-202 Cable Modem with both Ethernet port and USB port. Unfortunately there is only a single Ethernet port on the laptop. There is an USB port on DCM-202, but according to DLink, there is no Linux driver for USB connection between laptop and modem. I had to use Ethernet cable to connect the modem to the laptop. When I use the old Motorola Surfboard cable modem, I can use CDCEther driver for connecting the Motorola modem to laptop using USB cable. Is there any Linux driver for DLink DCM-202 (USB cable)? Can I use CDCEther driver with DLink DCM-202? Thank you. |
Hi btbx, Is there another machine or router on the network? Just wondering why you need to plug directly into the modem with the laptop?
God luck. ;-) |
AFAIK there is no USB driver for this modem and the cdcether module will not work. However, you could add a virtual adapter i.e. eth0:1 which will have an independent IP address etc from eth0.
