its running a Cortex A9 quad core CPU so my question is:
is it possible to flash this to run any current Linux distro such as Manjaro, Mint, etc?

Many buyers choose sticks based on the Rockchip RK3188 because of the availability of Ubuntu Linux. While there is not a specific version of Linux for the MK809 IV, several of the forums have created support and discussion around Mini PC’s using the RK3188 which you should be able to leverage.

If you're going for RazPi, remodel /boot to suit however that thing boots. There's firmware in /boot for all the substandard Broadcom chips ever used in any RazPi version. Making your box boot is going to be the issue, because unlike PCs, there is no standard way of making Arm based SoCs boot.
Personally, I would inquire on the Slackware/Slackware Arm forum, because they do 32 & 64 bit systems for a range of sbcs and may be in a position to advise you.
