LINUX(SUSE)Compatible Laptop Network Card
I would appreciate suggestion for a wireless network card that is compatible with LINUX.
I have a TOSHIBA Satellite S1800 Laptop. I am running SUSE LINUX 8.2. I have tried a few Wireless Network cards. None of them work on my laptop with LINUX. I am still using a cable, even though I have wireless at home. I removed Windows XP, and use SUSE exclusively. When I still used Windows, my Siemans wireless network card worked very well. Can anyone help with this problem? Thank-You! |
Have you tried using ndiswrapper? It allows you to use the windows drivers for your wireless card.
One card I can recommend against is the SMC2835w since newer revisions are misdetected by SuSE (and presumably other distros) because SMC changed the chipset on the card in newer versions of the card. |
Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.
