Question Linux Surround Sound

Hello. I am running a linux box with a Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 sound card inside. I am an avid viewer of DVDs, as well as a gamer. I wish to know how, on Linux, to enable my 4.1 analoug surround sound system. The closest I have gotten has been increasing the Wave Surround volume, which I have been told meerly coppies the front channel to the rear channel. Any suggestions? I am using the ALSA driver that was auto-installed with FC2. Thank you.
