Linux support for maxtor SATA 150 controller?

I'm adding an ata hard drive to a scsi system I have using the "adaptec.s" kernel in slackware. The controller card is a Maxtor Sata 150 controller (with one ata port, I don't have any sata drives). I am not able to detect that I have an ata hard drive, even though the maxtor's bios detects the hard drive at boot. Is this controller not supported? Any imput on how I can get an ata hard drive working in this scsi system would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: I just tried windows with both the maxtor sata150 and the rocket raid 100 controllers. Neither showed windows a hard disk. Could it have to do with the dell poweredge 2400/600 hardware?

(I was looking for an IDE controller about 2 months ago)
From what I've heard and read, the PATA connector on Maxtor's SATA controller was not supported. I was lucky enough to find one of their IDE cards with the Promise chipsets which are great. If you have a computer store that deals with used items, check them out. All the standard computer places around me have the new controllers that weren't supported.

Any new news on the maxtor controller compatibility? I was about to buy one for my poweredge 2600 to run some sata drives when I found this thread. I want to be sure the controller is linux compatible before I buy it.

I have the two cards, the maxtor 150 and the rocket 100. neither work in any computer I've used. I've tried many things, but I think I have just encountered a bad coincidence (by getting 2 bad cards). I don't see why it should work for you if you get a card that is not broken. Let me know if it works.
