Please be as descriptive as you can. What message(s) (if any) were displayed? Here is something else you can try, this will generate a new xorg.conf file, before that we will backup your current xorg.conf. Type exactly as seen:
Code:
cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf ~/Documents
Now type:
Code:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
Pick the vesa driver
Now type:
Code:
sudo shutdown -r now
Hopefully your gui should be back. Once you have logged in you can set about selecting the correct graphics and monitor settings.

here is what i did this time ...
i open the computer and i choose software ubuntu..
i press esc to show up the boot menu of ubuntu... after that i pressed "c"
for the command line and when i entered
Code:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
i got the following error
Code:
error 27:unrecognized command
after that i rebooted my computer ..and i dint press esc for the boot menu and i let ubuntu loading to coplete, after that the usual error cames up "out of rande ...."and after that i pressed ctrl+alt+F1 i entered the first command again that u gave me ...and nothing happen i am afraid that the second command line that i just told u dint response at anything....and dint responses to any exit command as quit,escape,esc,exit.. into nothing and i have to reboot after that my computer manually...perhaps what must be done its at the boot menu before ubuntu loads,
thanks mate for your help so far ..waiting for your advice !

Instead of pressing 'c' select Recovery at the end of the boot process you should have a Recovery Menu, use your down arrow key to highlight xfix then use your tab key to jump to ok and press enter. When the process has finished highlight resume normal boot then tab to ok hit enter, sit back and see what happens.
and this is the possible commands that i can enter (possible commands or something like that says i am not sure atm) and i get this when at command line press "tab"(the button tab not when i am writing tab)
i give you the images in rs links so u can see them with full analize and u get a better picture
Ah now I see why my commands didn't work. Don't use the 'c' option that only takes you to a minimal shell which doesn't include the commands you need to run. Try the method in post 7, if that doesn't work let me know.
mate it probably worked i entered linux and i fix the analize of the monitor i owe you my life thx mate very much,i have one more question and the other i ll be happy to find out my self how i can set up a wireless network on linux..becuase i dont have my own internet and i access the network with wireless adapter....how i can i use wireless internet with linux...(i dont have laptop my computer is desktop btw)if u can answer me that too i ll be greatfull
I'm no wireless expert but i'll give it a go. What you need to do is post the details of your wireless adaptor i.e. make/model. If you haven't done this already, i would power off, connect the adaptor, power backup and see if it's detected. You'll know from the icon in the panel at the top of the screen. If it is detected it should just be a case of entering the details. Other than that if you post as much info about your adaptor as you can if i can't help then someone else will. Oh and make it a fresh post so it gets maximum attention.
