Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Question Linux reports broken while Windows does not report any error

Hi, Today my KDE reported:

Quote:
Your battery capacity is 48%. This means your battery is broken and needs a replacement. Please contact your hardware vendor for more details.
I ran some checks and in a separate Windows boot, Windows 7 does not report any problems with the battery.

When I disconnect the battery in Linux it shows 45% and discharging with 1 hour and 40 mins left, while in Windows 7 shows 98% discharging with 2 and 30 minutes left.

How can I check what is the true status of the battery? Is there something I need to check in linux?

Many thanks,
Carlos.

try checking the battery health in BIOS

I have had those kind of warnings twice and each time experienced complete failure within 1-2 months.
