Linux Printing

Hey guys,

I'm trying to get my printer to run under linux. Currently I cant find a driver file that'll work with this. And yes I know how to use google, but all that is pointing my to is a development kit from lexmark. I have very little programming knowledge, nevermind creating a working module for this printer.

I'm using an ALL-IN-ONE printer from lexmark, the model is X7170. My linux distro is currently Simply MEPIS 6.0. I'll continue doing my google searches as always and update if I find anything else.

You might want to make sure that the PC recognizes the printer. Have you tried to look into your printer configuration files? I find all the printers connected, with Fedora Core, on system-config-printer (as root).

Yes my PC does indeed recongize it, it "sees" the printer. When I go to use MEPIS's config utility the recommended driver doesnt work.
