linux only recognizes one partition on a dual-partition thumb drive
 

hi,
i have a 4 gb flash drive that came default with 2 partitions?...
anyway, one is 24 MB and the other is 3.7-somethin GB
in windows it sees them both as two seperate devices. but when i use linux it only sees the 24MB partition. which sucks because all my files are on the 3.7 GB one (duh). this whole things sounds stupid as hell to begin with but does anyone know if there's a way for me to get linux to recognize the other partition on my flash drive?

When you insert the drive, I assume that it is auto-mounting. ie a window pops up and prompts you for the next action. Please describe exactly what happens.

With the drive inserted, open a terminal and do "fdisk -l" to see how the system sees the drive and its partitions. You might first have to do "su" to become root. Also, look in /mnt or /media to see what you can learn.

I've never seen flash drives come with anything but one partition. You might want to simply re-format it to make life easier.

PS: What is in the 24MB partition?
