Linux on ASUS P4C800

I got a new computer with the ASUS P4C800 motherboard with Promise SATA378 SATA controller and have tried to make linux work on it ever since. I've heard that the linux driver isn't finished yet, but somone told me that a FreeBSD driver i complete. Is it not possible to port the driver?

I want to install debian on my computer but it doesn't work. I've tried some other distros too and none of those seems to work either and I'm 99% sure that it is the Promise SATA378 SATA controller that is guilty.

Can anybody tell me how to install debian (or any distro other if debian doesn't work) on my computer?
