Question Linux on and XBOX

Hi all

I realise this may or may not be off topic. but i wasn't sure who else to ask (big complement to you guys)

I was thinking of getting an XBOX and installing linux on to allow me to play divx/avi/mepg of the network in my house. is this possible? Also does anyone know of what hardware (in addition to an XBOX and HD) i would require? some sort of chip? theres seems to be alot of them and most of them are a bit vague on what they do?

Also does anyone know of a distro that will work with this? i belive mandrake 9 did?? any others?

Thanks

Dan
