Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Linux on a MPX2

Ok so I just threw together a Iwill MPX2 system. RAID card is a Promise SX4000. Now I have ONE Athlon MP 2000+ in there right now. We're going with one for now and we'll add a 2nd if we need too. Is there a problem running a single MP?

Anyway the issue is as follows, Red Hat 8 right after you choose to install I get a APCI error on CPU0 04(04). Ok fine so we've got an error on this one. Mandrake 9 I get a black screen and it goes no further than that.

The kicker for me is Windows XP Pro...no problem! I got right to the point of creating a install partition, detected RAID and everything.

Now in the past it's always been the other way around. So any ideas?

Disable acpi and pnpos in the bios and try again, also you might get better performance if you use software raid instead of hardware raid.

I haven't been able to find a ACPI option, pnpos is off already. I'll check for a BIOS update that may support it.

Distribution: You're using the wrong distro.
