Linux Mint Internal webcam works on limited apps

Hi all,

I am having an issue with my internal Webcam not being found by some apps. Skype, guvcview, MS teams finds it and lists it as a USB device. Cheese and vokoscreen doesn't. Realtek I think is the videocam.

Here is lsusb lsit:

Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 005: ID 0bda:0129 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTS5129 Card Reader Controller
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0bda:56c1 Realtek Semiconductor Corp.
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 04ca:3016 Lite-On Technology Corp.
Bus 001 Device 014: ID 04f2:1558 Chicony Electronics Co., Ltd
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

Here is the /dev/video* list:

ls -l /dev/video*
crw-rw----+ 1 root video 81, 0 May 23 10:59 /dev/video0
crw-rw----+ 1 root video 81, 1 May 23 10:59 /dev/video1
crw-rw----+ 1 root video 81, 10 May 23 10:59 /dev/video10
crw-rw----+ 1 root video 81, 11 May 23 10:59 /dev/video11
crw-rw----+ 1 root video 81, 12 May 23 10:59 /dev/video12
crw-rw----+ 1 root video 81, 13 May 23 10:59 /dev/video13
crw-rw----+ 1 root video 81, 16 May 23 10:59 /dev/video14
crw-rw----+ 1 root video 81, 17 May 23 10:59 /dev/video15
crw-rw----+ 1 root video 81, 2 May 23 10:59 /dev/video2
crw-rw----+ 1 root video 81, 3 May 23 10:59 /dev/video3
crw-rw----+ 1 root video 81, 4 May 23 10:59 /dev/video4
crw-rw----+ 1 root video 81, 5 May 23 10:59 /dev/video5
crw-rw----+ 1 root video 81, 6 May 23 10:59 /dev/video6
crw-rw----+ 1 root video 81, 7 May 23 10:59 /dev/video7
crw-rw----+ 1 root video 81, 8 May 23 10:59 /dev/video8
crw-rw----+ 1 root video 81, 9 May 23 10:59 /dev/video9

In addition the guvcview list two usb options only one works.

I would like to use vokoscreen as I would like to do some videos with the webcam option.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks CanEnv.

This article might help: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/We...roubleshooting

It has been my experience that webcams that do not work with Cheese often do work with guvcview. I have never dug into why, though.

As an aside, when quoting terminal outpub, please surround any terminal output with "code" tags which become available when you click the "Advanced" button beneath the compose/edit post window. It makes terminal output much easier to read.
