Question Linux Mandrake 9.1 installation

Hey recently, i just burnt Linux on 3 CD-Rs. When I boot my PC and i'm in the language selection screen for linux, i can't move my mouse. I have a Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse Blue. When I select the text mode installation, my keyboard won't respond.

What is wrong??????

It may not be seeing your mouse plugged in. I had the same sort of problem on my laptop with it seeing my optical, but not my touchpad. There should be a line in the initialization screen for the boot that tells you what hardware it has detected. It flashes by quickly, so watch for it, and look for the mouse. You may just have to use another one and mabye switch later on.

This isn't going to be reassuring

But I have an MS Trackball Optical which linux doesnt even supply power to over USB. To install (a week ago) I had to dig out an old PS2 2-button mouse which was recognised straight off but I am still searching for a solution on how to get my optical recognised by the system... good luck!

I have a logitech trackball that is USB or PS2 (with adapter). I run it it with the PS2 adapter; works fine in Linux.

I haven't tried it with USB in this machine because the other side of the dual boot is WinNT and NT does not support USB.

Getting a USB-PS2 adapter might solve your problem.

don't have a wireless keyboard, but a USB one. It seems like linux won't supply power to my wireless mouise receiver. My receiver has a PS2 adapter on it and i'm using it.
