Question Linux Friendly External Hard Drives

Just wondering, since I'm considering getting lycoris for maybe Christmas, I'll need a hard drive. I don't want too much fuss, so I only want an external one. I would like at least 10GB, but I'd settle for 6 or 8. It obviously has to be Linux friendly. I figure using an external hard drive will make life simpler in a few different ways. Thanx.

Okay I don't need a external hard drive, although I'd prefer it. Can anyone please help me. For internal hard drives I'd like a particular answer on wheter or not a Cheetah 18 INT 18GB Wide Ultra2 SCSI HDD would work. It is affordable, has 18GB, more than I want, and I like it. Just need a few people to tell me if it's compatible and what to do. I want it to run Lycoris, and mainly access the web, save maybe Open Office documents, and print. Maybe a FEW games, like Railroad Tycoon if it's released for Linux, like RRT2 was.
