just about anywhere, if you want an expensive 3com hardware controlled modem. i guess i can't tell you a specific vendor, but i can point out one to look for and one NOT to look for:
1) if you can find an Intel HAM (Host Accelerated Modem) chipset (drivers from http://developer.intel.com/design/mo...vers_linux.htm) they work really good
2) stay away from anything Motorola...the drivers are closed source and will not work for me + the modem (Software Modem 56) is no longer supported by Motorola
3) if you find a modem that is NOT software controlled, you should be able to get it to work with Linux.

even if you opt for a software modem my suggestion is to stay away from these, even if you'd be able to run it under linux the performance is poor to say the least. Get a real hardware modem

I have several modems, and only ONE works in Linux. And I had to buy it specially for Linux. I have:
An IBM LT Winmodem
A Creative Modem Blaster PCI
And a Creative Modem Blaster ISA
The ISA is the only one that works under Linux for me. I recommend it. Very nice modem.

I have an IBM Lucent WinModem. Works a treat with the ltmodem-6.00 driver from linmodems.org
Check your chipset with:
% lspci -vv
as root.

Dunklais;
Which Creative Modem Blaster ISA do you have? I have DI5602 and cannot get Red Hat Linux 7.2 to detect it. I had to install drivers for Windows 98 SE. Did you have to do anything to get Linux to detect this modem?

Lucent Winmodems are easy to configure.
Forget going to linmodems.org - that site is about as helpful as linuxprinting.org. Far too much detail and crap.
Just get the driver from heby.de/ltmodem and install it.
