Linux compatibility Thinkpad T60 with Intel Core Duo Processor

Hey, the new IBM/leveno Thinkpad model T60 has the new intel dual core processor (the same as the new macs... t2400 and t2600). I was wondering if anybody new anything about linux compatibility with that processor. Will standard x86 distros run on it, or is this new chip a new architecture?

Also, has anyone ran debian on a new thinkpad, how is hardware compatibilty?

Thanks,
fatrandy13

is it a centrino base system?

Linux on Pentium M = yes
Linux on Pentium M duo smp = yes

non centrino = some hardware like wireless and IR may not work easily

most distros will run on it,
all distros should autodetect SMP systems at set it up accordingly.

SuSe & Mandriva are Officially Centrino Certified however most distros should detect all Centrino hardware.
however it \

I am using the T60 with Ubuntu dapper. Most things work out of the box (like wireless!). I had to manually install the fglrx drivers to get hardware rendering. Also, I had to build the bioapi pam modules from source in order to get the fingerprint scanner working.
