I am new to linux. I would like to know if a IBM Netfinity 5500 eserver with Dual pentium III xeon 550 mhz 512 mb ram and 9.1 gb hdd scsi server is compatible with debian linux. I am not totally stuck on Debian but that was a recommened linux distribution for a server. If someone has a better server os please let me know. I would prefer a free to very low cost os.
I agree that Debian is a great choice for a server.
About your question, given IBM's adoption of GNU/Linux, the answer is "probably". BTW, have you
a) asked IBM?
b) plunged in & tried an install?
c) done any Google, LQ, or other searches?
