linux cannot detect my video driver

I am using ubuntu 11.10 on a intel series panel pc.
jockey cannot detect any drivers to install graphics.

here's some output,

Code:

dmesg | grep vga
[    0.253652] vgaarb: device added: PCI:0000:00:02.0,decodes=io+mem,owns=io+mem,locks=none
[    0.253683] vgaarb: loaded
[    0.253688] vgaarb: bridge control possible 0000:00:02.0
[  13.408908] vgaarb: device changed decodes: PCI:0000:00:02.0,olddecodes=io+mem,decodes=io+mem:owns=io+mem

as i check i guess the driver is installed by default, by i don't know how to assure its
availability

Code:

# dmesg | grep -i controller

What does the output of the lspci command show?
Code:

$ lspci | grep VGA

# and, with a bit more detail

$ lspci -vs $(lspci | awk '/VGA/ { print $1}')

saman_artorious 02-23-2013 05:06 AM

Code:

lspci | grep VGA

Your graphics card is detected (Intel Mobile 945GME Express) and there's also a module loaded for it (i915). You can check this by issuing:
Code:

lsmod | grep i915
I'm not a Ubuntu user, but I found this:
Quote:

Package list must be manually refreshed before installing drivers

The "Hardware Drivers" tool (Jockey) requires up to date package lists before it detects and advertises necessary driver packages. Immediately after a new installation, these package lists will not be present. Before running Jockey for the first time, update the package lists using System->Administration->Software->Update Manager
Do you see anything in the log file? (/var/log/jockey.log)

Have a look here as well: jockey fails to install drivers

Ubuntu comes with a driver for that video device by default. Since Intel does not provide proprietary drivers for Linux it is absolutely normal that jockey does not come up with anything related to that card.
