linux BadRAM VMWare and Windows

okay, I have been plauged with "bad RAM" for some time. I upgrade and add more ram and the old module "fails". I upgrade and replace an old module and the new one "fails"

I have heard of BadRAM for linux where you can use memtest86 to find the "BadRAM" and enter it into your kernel args. what if I was to use linux (any distro, not choosy) run memtest86, lock out the Bad RAM with the BadRam module kernel arguments and then run Windows from within a VMWare virtual machine? Assuming that I am running a linux distro and only VMWare with it tweaked full would this lock out the bad emmroy from windows so I can avoide the Blue Screen of Death?

Icedentally I run 5 machines at home.

Mac OSX 10.2
CentOS 4
Ubuntu (Kubuntu Most recent as of this post, just installed)
Windows XP Home x 2

All but the Win machines are pretty flawless in operation but I need to have ONE Win machine for various reasons.

Thank you for your help!!

Memory corruption comes up if you set the memory bus too agressive. You could have power supply problems with out ever knowing it. I recommend buying ECC memory if your computer supports it. ECC memory only costs 10 to 20 US dollars more than non-ECC memory. Parity memory costs double.

memtest86 is run outside of Linux and Windows. It is stand alone that is run from either a floppy or optical disc like a CD or DVD. If memtest86 has detected an error in a certain bank and you selected fail-safe settings in the BIOS, put the memory in a different bank and try again. If the memory fails in all banks, then it is bad memory and it have to be returned. Keep in mind memory has a lifetime warrenty, so you may want to go through the RMA service for your memory.

Buy named brand memory instead of unknown brands.
