linux 9 or fedora on imb xseries 346 installation problem
hi friends i have IBM server of xSeries 346 which has MT:8440 ,S/N 99BGZWW, product ID 8840I1A
i want to update my system so that it can have fedora operating system for server
but unfortunately it does not support linux
can anybody help me to overcome this problem
because i searched the ibm site but i can not get the proper bios update .. so please if anybody having the information abot this pls share

And your problem would be? They SAY they don't support linux, but that does not mean it won't run! Try installing it, and if you do encounter a problem while trying an install, then post it here and we will be eager to help you.

You might be better off going with something like Centos5 (RedHat el5 with logos removed) on a server. Fedora's support life is only one year now. Centos5 will have support for at least another 4 years.

If you are trying to run RedHat 9 on relatively recent hardware you are virtually guaranteed to have problems. RH9 predates most current hardware. In other words, it is a dinosaur.
