Linksys WUSB54GC- working anyone

Hi all,
has anyone got the WUSB54GC working under Linux with the rt2x00 rt73usb.ko driver?
If so can you explain how you managed it please.
I don't mean with the ralink RT73 driver.
Thanks

Same problem here...

First tried using ndiswrapper with the drivers(rt73.inf, rt73.sys, rt73.cat) from the product CD, but
ndiswrapper says "Incompatible architecture forrt73.sys".
I guess this should be because, the orginal windows driver is for 32bit machines.

As a second shot, tried to compile RT73 driver as suggested here http://funcation.blogspot.com/
But having some complilation problems in tge 64bit machine with gcc>4.0

Any help is highly appreciated.

Regards
Venkat

I wish I could help. I already use that driver and it works well. But it doesn't support monitor mode unfortunately. I've been trying the serialmonkey rt2x00 drivers which do have the ability to use Monitor mode but the drivers don't work too well as yet. Marc and Ivo are on the case though. But I guess they are busy people with better things to do at the moment.
I await their working drivers with bated breath.

turnbui,

Got the rt73 module from RT73_Linux_STA_Drv1.0.3.0.tar.gz
compiled in the 64bit machine with gcc4.0.1.
But now,
'insmod rt73.ko' dumps "invalid module format"

When you say you can use rt73 driver, how do you load the module?
Is there any particular order of modules to be loaded as in
serialmonkey case.

BTW, I have tried the rt73usb driver from rt2x00 beta from serialmonkey
and i am closely following you and Ivo at http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com/phpBB...hlight=rt73usb
Though their module loads fine, i am having other network issues, which i will
post later in their forum

And is it because of the monitor mode problem that you are looking for rt73usb?
Also, is your machine 32 or 64bit.

Thanks,
Telinux

Mines a 32 bit machine. I had the invalid module format problem earlier. I think it was because I had recompiled the Kernel 2.6.12-12mdk. After a fresh install of Mandriva 2006.0 free edition AND installing the Kernel-source BUT NOT compiling it the problem went away. I just needed the kernel source for the headers for other compiles. No, no particular order to load modules. Anyway a reboot will sort it and I've noticed that the depmod -a that is done as part of the make install sorts the order out negating the need for a modprobe - it appears
Yes, it is the Monitor mode I'm after.

Thought I'd just pass on some heartening news. I'm actually getting "Rx packets:" non-zero value. I can ping from and to the Linux over the Linksys WUSB54GC. This is the very first time this value has NOT been zero!! I don't know what I did to get this result but well I don't really care so long as it works. Can't get to the Internet yet tho' - not sure why??!!??

PS - Don't use the beta versions of the Serialmonkey drivers. Ivo [or was it Marc told me to use the -cvs-daily tarballs!
