Linksys WUSB54G on Fedora Core 5
Howdy folks. I just upgraded from FC4 to FC5, and I'm having trouble getting my Linksys WUSB54G (version 1) wireless usb adapter to work. It worked fine in FC4 using ndiswrapper, but under FC5, my device is not detected. I installed the driver properly (ndiswrapper -l says the driver is installed), but it does not say that my device was detected. I'm using kernel version 2.6.16-1.2096_FC5smp and ndiswrapper 1.15. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Make sure you have the latest version of ndiswrapper and that you "make uninstall" your old version of ndiswrapper before your extract and install the new version. You may also want to upgrade your kernel to 2.6.16-1.2111_FC5.

Did your last installation have the exact same kernel?
If not, you'll want to make sure you have CONFIG_USB_USBNET set in your kernel config. I belive that is the option that enables USB network adapters.

I have the same exact problem, worked under fc4, but now the hardware is not detected under fc5. I've never messed around with the kernel settings, though I'm not a complete noob. How would I do such a thing in FC5? Thanks!

You would need get the kernel source, configure your kernel (make xconfig) then, if you don't see it in the menus, open /usr/src/linux/.config in your favorite editor, find the option mentioned above, uncomment it, and set it to "y". Then compile your kernel (make oldconfig), install it (make install) and reboot. Might work, never heard back from the thread starter.
