Linksys WRT54G - have lost access to web setup

Hi, folks.

I recently bought a Linksys wireless/wired router, and set it up via the web interface. Internet access is working fine, but when I tried to access the setup page again, on http://192.168.1.1, the onboard web server seems not to be responding - I do not get asked for a password, and the request simply times out in the browser.

I suppose that I could do a hard reset, but that would mean setting it up from scratch again. Can anyone suggest anything? Have you experienced the same thing?

Thanks,
Rob

Yes, sorry, that was the address I was trying. I mistyped it in my post at first. You must have been quick off the mark with your reply, as I had corrected it within a minute or so.

BTW, I have tried the usual switch-it-off-and-on-again routine.

Thanks,
Rob

PS - For anyone confused by the above, I had mistyped the address as 192.268.1.1

I've had problems like that when I've had one session open and gone to another PC without closing the first session. Happens in wireless most, but that's what I use most.
Generally clears up after 10-15 minutes.

And yes I have had to factory reset it on (at least) one occasion; can't recall why.

Thanks for the help. In the end, I had to do a hard reset. This time, though, I've remembered to back up the config to my PC (so I won't have to go through the whole setup process if the onboard web server crashes again).

Yours,
Rob
