The router is 802.11g compliant, any 802.11g card should work with it. The Linksys card is a broadcom chipset, which has NO native linux driver. However, there is ndiswrapper which is a way to use the Windows driver in Linux.

It breaks a lot. No fault of the ndiswrapper guys, largely its a juggle to get a windows driver to work with it.

The Netgear WG511 is a Prism54 card:

www.prism54.org

The driver is native to the 2.6 kernel, and will compile properly against 2.4 if need be.

Cheers,
