I installed Red Hat 9 on my machine and it did not recognize the nVidia network card (on motherboard), so I purchased and installed a Linksys LNE100TX (nVidia is disabled). The Linksys worked fine, Red Hat saw it as a Network Everywhere Fast Ethernet 10/100 model NC100. I could get to the internet and have some fun.

I decided to give Red Hat a little more room and repartitioned the hard drive, reinstalled Red Hat , and now Red Hat network configuration thinks the network card is a DEC 21*40, even though the hardware browser thinks it's a Linksys. I can't get to the internet anymore.

I should have left well enough alone.

I have deleted the network configuration (device and hardware), pulled the Linksys card, rebooted, told kudzu to drop the configuration, shutdown, reinstalled the card, rebooted, kudzu found the card (as a Linksys), but network configuration still thinks it's a DEC.

Any ideas?

I don't know, my RH9 installation thinks my Linksys NIC is a DEC21*40 as well, and I have no problems surfing the internet. :shrug:
