linksys instant wireless

Anyone gotten one to work in linux yet? i've tried all the way up to 2.4.18 with the most recent PCMCIA + wireless drivers?

The Linksys card works rather well, based off of the prism2 intersil chipset. If this is a self-compiled 2.4.18 you're probably going to need some tweaking. Make sure you enabled all 3 sets of pcmcia goop throughout the menuconfig (the only type I use, sorry, don't know about Xconfig). Regardless, you'll need a file called hermes.conf added to /etc/pcmcia in order to get cardmgr to bind the right set of drivers. You can get that here:

Also, depending on the rev of the card you'll need to hand hack that file a little. If its v2.5 or v3 check this thread:

This is a way to get the orinoco series drivers to make the card work there are currently 3 different projects out there that cover these cards. Please, save yourself a lot of headache and don't bother with the linux-wlan project drivers.

Cheers,
