Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

libgl

alright I just installed Vector 3.2... It came with xfree4.2.1 and when I tried glxgears it gave me a fps of about a thousand. I upgraded to 4.3.0 by way of dropline gnome and everything works wonderful (the fonts are really nice)! Except for one thing. I lost my direct rendering. When I run glxgears it is giving me a fps of about 100, meaning it is using software rendering. I have the same fxree config file and all that.

It gives me an output of "libGL error: InitDriver failed" when I run glxgears and "direct rendering: no" when I run glxinfo.

by the way I have a radeon 7500 so i can't use the drivers by ati.

How can I find out what that libGL error means and how can I fix this?
I have a feeling it is something to do with the libgl.so files. anyone know?
thanks
