LG GSA-4160B DVD Burner compatibility with linux

Hi
I want to buy a DVD burner LG GSA-4160B, does anybody have a bad experience with this? LQ-HCL doesn't say much about this. My concern is the DVD media compatibility, linux support with this device. How about the burning quality?

Thanks in advance

The people at www.cdrinfo.com have reviewed this burner and it received very good ratings (eg read/write performance). Bear in mind they used only Windows in the review. The features certainly look good, but LG is questionable in my opinion. I was going to buy it, but a few things stand in the way:

- It seems to be a bit fussy on media (see also link below)
- A few LG drives had real problems (could be damaged) with Mandrake installs.
- My LG CDROM turned a bit lazy on CD-Rs for some time (but easily worked around).
- I also have an old Goldstar (LG) CDROM (understandably slow)

LQ´s HCL seems to have a similar model GSA-4120B. A few problems exist though.

Based on this info, I wanted something different, so I chose the Pioneer A08. But the LG isn't a bad choice either.
