Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

LG Flatron: Signal out of range!

I have GeForce440MX and LG 1511S. During installation of ASPLinux videocad is selected correctly, but monitor is seen as 'Unknown'. The only working graphical mode is 320x200, 256 colors. Using any other mode or driver leads to caption 'Signal out of range' appearing and then screen is turning off.
I installed ALT Linux ith the same effect. In the list of hardware between LG 1505S and 1525 there are no others.

have you tried XFree86 -configure?

It tries to autodetect your system. Maybe it sets up your monitor just right. You should definately look into the /etc/X11/XF86config{-4} file.

man XF86Config is your friend
