lexmark z605m support

my dad just bought a lexmark z605m printer since our other one was outdated by QUITE a few years. Now I'm wondering cause I havent seen it listed on www.linuxprinting.org if there is a way to get it work under my redhat9 distro. Such as any available drivers, please?

Just for the sake of others doing the search for this printer and finding this thread...

I D/L'd the RedHat RPM in the hopes it would work on my system, as some do. Unfortunately, No Go. (SuSE 9.0 Pro & KDE desktop.)

For a list of supported hardware, go to http://hardwaredb.suse.de/searchForm...e3d97e3f401654

There is a problem with this type of printer. Like a winmodem, it is not a complete printer. It relies on the OS to handle what should be done in the printer.

I'm not sure what the m in z605m means...

I have a lexmark Z605 and it works for me under mandrak 9.1 and gentoo

Cheers,
Gary

There is a RedHat driver for that printer, so if it works for you then that RedHat driver works on your system. It won't on SuSE 9.0
