lexmark z600 drivers
Hello all!
I just bought a Lexmark z600 printer and with my luck it has no drivers on MEPIS(debian) I downloaded the red hat drivers and did a bunch of crap with those and came out with the driver in .rpm format- yes that was supposed to happen :-) Anyway now what do I do? I have tried to use alien to turn it into a deb package with the command "alien --to-deb <name.of.the.driver.rpm> ----I think that was the command, anyway I got this error message"bash: syntax error near unexpected token 'newline' " is there an easier way to go about this? THE MAIN QUESTION IS AS FOLLOWS: At the point that i am at(.rpm drivers) how do I make this printer print????? Take easy im a dumb :newbie: through and through Thank You :-) If it helps you specify here are the drivers i got "z600cups-1.0-1.i386.rpm" and "z600llpddk-2.0-1.i386.rpm" EDIT: I got the driver installed with alien and apt-get and it shows up on KDE add a printer but after I set up everything it still wont print. |

There is another procedure I use to unpack the ppd using 'tail' but I don't have it at my fingertips right now. I'll try and get it out later. Note: Use the steps outlined in the faq above for a Z25/35 printer. nz |
