Lexmark-Z12 not printing

Hello, I have Gentoo with a custom compiled 2.6.10-gentoo kernel. I have cups 1.1.23r1 and espgs7.07.1-r7. I have a lexmark Z12 printer. I was able to 'configure' it using a post here about getting it to work on a slackware.
Cups will detect the printer, and it LOOKS set up, but every time I print, nothing happens. I also get a message like this:
ID Name User Size State
Lexmark-Z12-16 Test Page root 15k aborted

On the printer settings itself after the 'print' it says:

Default Destination: Lexmark-Z12

Lexmark-Z12 Lexmark Z12 Foomatic/lxm3200-tweaked (recommended)
Description:
Location: /dev/usb/lp0
Printer State: idle, accepting jobs.
"Printer fault!"
Device URI: usb://Lexmark/Z12

How can I fix this? It used to work when I was using Knoppix on my hard drive, so I know it's doable.

Thank you in advance.

How did you get it to work?

I have a Lexmark Z12 printer too, but I can't get it to work on Mepis 2004.6. How did you get it to work?

Easy, I installed the foomatic driver, and used the modified driver for it. I got the instructions for the driver install from here Beware of the typos!
That should solve all of your problems.

Lexmark Z12 Print solution

My solution to this problem was to download the PPD driver fromhttp://linuxprinting.org/show_printe...um=Lexmark-Z12 Then I went to the Print Manager and choose Add Printer which started the CUPS printing wizard....
I choose local printer
I choose the printer port (USB01)
I was then prompted to select the make and model, but I clicked on "other" which allowed me to install the PPD driver manual, which loaded properly.
I click Test to print a test page, which was perfect in black - I didn't test in colour.
I contined the wizard until completion.
Pleae note that this driver has not been tested in colour as per stated on the download page. Similarly, I have only got it working in KDE. Hope this helps other Lexmark Z12 owners like me.
