Thanks for the reply.
The main purpose of this printer is for scanning and somtimes printing black and white non-image text, any tips on how i can get it working? They were talking about drivers and this guy said he got it work and i also have what he has:

I have a ubuntu (5.10) distribution and it was installed fine. I have
the X75 model. However I had a problem trying to print pages with
pictures. It just stopped. I cancelled the printing job and tried
again but no reaction. I had to reboot the system. With simple
pages it has no problem but when I had to print "heavy" pages
then the printer stopped. I don't know what the problem is.
Anyway. I don't if the problem is only with my system
or general. It seems like a bug however.

A lot of peripherals are made by one manufacturer, relabeled, and sold by many brands. If you do some research you may find that your machine is a lot like other machines that perform the same functions. In that case you could use a driver for one of the other brands if one is available.

The second approach is similar. If you do the research you may find that all of these peripherals use a common command set. If that is the case then you could use a "generic" driver. For instance all modems that I know of use the Hayes command set. Most modems also use their own commands to access extra functions. However you can make any modem perform its basic functions with the Hayes commands. This may be true of other peripherals as well.
