I have searched high and low for an answer to this problem and only found one post on google about someone having the same problem as me (unfortunately, no one had an answer).
I have a Lexmark X1185 All-In-One. The only problem i have with it is whenever i try to scan (using xsane or any program that uses the sane drivers) it makes a horrible noise and it fails to scan. Whenever i watch it in action it looks as if the scanner light that moves is trying to go the wrong way and is hitting the back of the unit. I have checked dmesg and it reports no errors and the resulting image is just a bunch of random colors. I believe it is just a sane-backends driver problem, but i cant find any way to remedy it. Thanks for any help and I am more than willing to give you any extra info needed.
Me either. I've even installed the latest version of SANE and still no joy.
I've done all the research I can do with no luck. I know Lexmark has terrible Linux support so I wasn't getting my hopes up for this printer but when I found that SANE did support the scanner I was kind of hopeful that it would work until I get a good supported Linux multifunction printer.
I wonder if ANYONE? has got this scanner to work...
you and I are the only ones I know of that have this problem. Everyone I have talked to on numerous Linux forums who has owned this model says the drivers work...
I have had the same problem with the lexmark x1185 scanner. The problem is with the driver I presume. In fact the writers of the driver mentioned the problem too, and told the users to be careful as it could damage the hardware. So as of now, no scanner. Bad luck, I guess.
Hi. I've got Lexmark x1155 and have the same issue. I must say that my scanner used to work great under Sane version 18. Then something happened and now it does not work anymore, just makes noise. I tried removing sane and all related libraries and reinstalling everything still no joy. So, keep us posted if someone find a solution.
