Lexmark 710 Pro wireless won't work with Mint 17.3 for me
Hello everyone. Thanks for your time and consideration.
I absolutely can not get my Lexmark 710 Pro wireless printer to work with my Linux Mint 17.3 Rosa. It worked fine after I installed Mint half a year ago -- but then -- suddenly it stopped. Nothing -- no matter what setup or driver I install. Still works fine with the two Windows 10 laptops we have, tho'. I would appreciate your thoughts and help. Thank you -- Randy - K4LJA |
No answers, but a couple of questions:
As it's wireless, I assume it has an ip address. Can you ping it from your Mint computer? Is it DHCP or static? Have you tested it with a wired network connection (I doubt that's the issue, but it's useful to rule out potential issues). What error messages or response, if any, do you get when you send a text page from CUPS (localhost:631 in your browser)? (Alternatively, start a text editor from the command line, type something, try sending it to the printer and check for error messages in the terminal.) |
Make sure that your firewall does not block your printer's port.

Hi Randy...
Just as a suggestion, you might want to remove your email address from your post lest your inbox ends up with a boatload of SPAM in the very near future. ;) Regards... |

Frank -- tried everything they suggested -- and nothing. Guess I'll have to give up on the Lexmark printer on Linux. It was a gift, and I still use it on Windows 10 computers, so I'm not out anything. Guess I'll have to consider an HP printer. Thanks, tho. Randy - K4LJA

Yes, HP would be the best choice for Linux. If you'd like, you can let us know what model(s) you're considering and we can help you determine if it's supported by HPLIP. :) Regards... |
