Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Lenovo USB Smartcard Keyboard

Hi Guys,

I bought this keyboard:
https://www.lenovo.com/ie/en/accesso...g/p/4X30E51040

And I would like to know how to use the smartcard feature on Fedora Linux.

1 ) Where do I buy a smart card?
2 ) How do I setup the card?
3 ) How do I setup the card reader?
4 ) What is possible? ( I assume I can log into my desktop - What else can I do? )

Thanks,
Aubrey

In Linux, this kind of thing would work through PAM. There is already a PAM module for reading smartcards. See for instance https://blog.fkraiem.org/2013/03/13/...ntication-pam/.

The nice thing about PAM is that the sysadmin can specify which PAM modules are to be invoked by any PAM-aware program and which combination of tests is to be regarded as a valid authentication for that program.
