LCD TV for output on Fedora Core 4

Hello all,

I am in the process of setting up mythtv and so far things have gone well.

Now, I am to the point of connecting the system to my LCD TV, Olevia LT37HVS via the built in VGA port on the TV. The Olevia docs (syntaxgroups.com) say that the TV has 1360x768@60hz for PC resolution.

When I use the built in video controller (Intel Corporation 82845G/GL, Intel 845 MB) and boot into runlevel 3, the output on the tv is outstanding quality but shifted to the left (left edge text cut off) and there is a blank bar on the right. I would guess that the equivilant of about 8-9 characters are cut off on the left with the same amount blank on the right.

When I startx, I get kde but the same is true (left is missing, right has blank bar) regardless of the resolution. The only difference is that at higher resolutions, the amount cut off and the size of the bar on the right is smaller and smaller.

I cannot help but believe that if I can fix the problem in runlevel 3 it will carry over to runlevel 5.

Here are my question.

Should I continue to bloody my head trying to get the built in intel video working?

Or, should I cut my losses now and get a video card (fx5200) that has DVI out and use the HDMI input on my TV?

Any recommends on a pci fx5200 based card?

I do not want to invest in the card only to find I have the same problem.

I have attached some output/log files as per request.
