LCD Screen & Extra keys on keyboard

I have a Compaq Presario M2013AP Laptop. I have installed Open SUSE 10 & KDE 3.5.

I have 2 hardware issues viz.:

1.) My laptop has shortcut keys built into the keyboard for - Switching Wireless/bluetooth on/off (This one works)
- Reducing volume
- Increasing volume
- Audio mute

Can somebody tell me as to how can I enable the above on my Suse desktop.

2.) Is there any optimization in SUSE for display on LCD screen akin to "cleartype" in XP?

3.) At present I have 256 MB onboard RAM (224 actually). Will an upgrade help speed up Linux?

I will grateful for any advice, tips, suggestions.
