LCD monitors and Linux?

Do I have to modify xorg.conf if I want to use a LCD monitor with Linux? or can I just plug it in and go?

no modifing should be necessary. Should be able to plug and go. It the graphics card that can be difficult. Not the monitors

Should display fine as long as the resolution is not higher than the lcd can display. In Redhat clone distros there is a tool that can change monitor from the gui. Slack may have one as well. I choose generic lcd 1280x1024 for monitor. Reason is so video card does not drive refresh above 60hz. Some lcd can do 72hz refresh.

You shouldn't have any problems getting it running, but you may have to tweak it to get the resolution that you want. I used the info at http://wiki.x.org/wiki/FAQVideoModes to create a ModeLine entry for my xorg.conf file to get my Dell 1905FP to display 1280x1024 instead of the 1024x768 default.
