Did you notice the last post in this thread is 13 years old? It would depend on your use. Laser printers are more costly but you need to replace ink more frequenty on inkjets so if you do a lot of printing, I would think a laser would be better.

There are pluses and minuses to both.
Color quality may not be as good on the laserjets, but durability, resistance to water smears, and overall $ per page is usually better.
Inkjets usually have better color quality and near photo quality printing but as has already been noted, if unused for some time the inkjet nozzles can plug and necessitate replacing cartridges or even the print head on some designs.
Your usage needs determine what is best for you. As seldom as I print anything the laserjet is very much my personal go-to.

Neither.
See if your local drug store has a photo printing service. You can upload the files and they will print photos that are as good as traditional ones.

For quality prints I agree that the local drug store would be the way to go. We do that when we need multiple copies for relatives for example. If just a few for personal use, then home ink jet works fine. We have a Brother InkJet Tank printer at home. My wife likes to print a few photos (regular paper) of the grand kids now and then for the fridge and such. We also have a B/W Laser printer for making 'sharp' printed documents too.

They changed the link in the quoted post - i.e. unsolicited advertising.

IMHO you would be best served with either a hp or Cannon I personally think that In your case the Cannon ecotank series printers would be best suited. I have also had extremely good luck with Hewlett Packard, I'd recommend Lexmark but it can be a pain in the rear end to get their printers multifunction printers working under cups.

Moving posts to new thread. No reason to resurrect a necro thread when a new thread should have been created.

As per what is now #7 of this thread, compare the link in the quoted message of post #1 with the link in the actual post https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/showthread.php?p=3752493

A friend does quite a bit of photo printing and swears by his Epson. It is an inkjet printer, but it doesn't use cartridges, but has "tanks," that can be refilled with relatively inexpensive OEM ink. He says the quality is excellent.
For B&W only printing he uses a HP Laser printer.

a third option
Xerox makes printers with "solid ink" you should have a look at that.
Those have a really good quality for photoprints.

All the above suggestions are great, but unless you are doing a lot of photo printing on photo quality paper the least expensive way is as suggested -- take the image to a print shop and have them print the photos. Photo quality printers are quite expensive, regardless of the type, laser or inkjet.
You can print the images at home to see and select the ones desired out of a group (in which case the quality is not the critical criteria), then choose to print in full photo quality only the few selected.
